I belong to a Medicare HMO and you should be aware that HMO's work for profit as do other medical individuals or groups.... There is no "rationing" of MRI or scans to anyone for reason's I cited earlier But we don't have full fledged socialism here yet. ...my belief is that they are not required as often as they are prescribed. I have turned down scans because I thought they weren't required..... But it's almost a given that you will be scanned if you go to an orthopedist for anything.. I also think dentists use X-rays too casually (profit is there too). You must be a hoot as a patient. Looking at the doctor suspiciously, 'why do you want to do that, you greedy profit grubbing bastard?' Don't let 'em get away with giving you anything you don't absolutely need, Shep. They're probably just trying to pull a fast one. Hey, have you ever heard of "defensive medicine"? Ever hear of lawsuits brought against health care providers? If you're really concerned about possible unneeded testing, but why isn't Obama going to do something to limit lawsuit abuse? Have you ever taken your car in for a "free safety inspection"? Have you ever taken advantage of a "free virus scan of your computer". Those are just two examples of all the "free" things out there for you... What does this have to do with anything? MRI's aren't free. The word socialism seems to come out of your mouth about every 10 words..it's your latest obsession. and btw, we do not have the best healthcare system in the world... If you allowed yourself to read more than RW material you would learn that... We do have the best health care in this country and I'm against the socialism you're pushing - and yes, thats an accurate word to apply here - because it will change that.
