GPS, the flaw is that a car is not a dollar and a pedestrian is not a debt.
40 years ago, a friend used to use the phrase, "Another f-----d analogy" when I would explain something by way of analogy. I heard it several times over a period of time.
Analogies are just descriptive. If you want to discuss traffic and traffic engineering, I'm happy to do so and have some excellent theories.
One of them is that traffic engineers are the least intellectual of the engineers because they only need to count and do a bit of statistics. Traffic engineering seems to operate on the premise that the slower traffic goes, the better. If there's more congestion, all to the good. They don't achieve it alone because even a dopey local body politician could see very simple no-cost ways to improve traffic flows, such as, for example, clearways on busy roads.
The Bible was right! < the Bible tries to teach us that we do not self-regulate very well > The conclusion that many draw, foolishly, is that if we adopt USSR Kremlin-style rules, more regulation, more government, Bigger Brother, things will be hunky dory. It takes but a cursory glance at history to see that that is not true.
Nearly always, ignorance and stupidity are enough to explain things: <What do we make of several sources suggesting that same thing? Is it a conspiracy, or smear campaign, or just the reckless mob? >
So "reckless mob" is the best answer of the three.
People have only a kilogram of wet chemistry between their ears to keep their existence on the straight and narrow. Life is absurdly complex so they are not able to even do that. Their DNA which has been through an exceedingly fine grinding process over a billion years gives them some protection and guidance but that still leaves a lot for their thinking processes to look after.
When they decide to hand over their problems to Big Brother to look after them, they are asking people who are only slightly less half-witted to take on an impossible burden. Those people who are arrogant enough to think they should be in charge of everyone are exactly the wrong people to be in charge. They are no better than your garden variety alpha male chimp battling to get up the pecking order [to mix a few metaphors and analogies].
The average intelligence is only about IQ 100 so with such a huge limitation, it's obvious that things are going to go wrong all the time. Even if all those with IQ 100 hand their decision-making over to government departments full of people with IQ 120, there will still be chaos and worse because not only are there not enough people that smart to handle decisions for the vast hordes, but they lack motivation to do it right and lack information about the average lives which they dispose of so even if they tried really really hard, they couldn't. Heck, the average IQ120 person can't even run their own lives very well, let alone taking responsibility for a swarm of others.
What are some regulations you'd like to keep financial relativity theory on the straight and narrow?
I guess:
No borrowing No lending All gold and silver, no funny money Government permit to go shopping Permitted products only to be sold Personal finances to be held in a government vault
That should do it.
