I don't think 'class resentment' quite captures it. I don't think people care if someone makes money, but it is HOW they made money. Goldman is like your Uncle Ricco, who comes to your house one day and says "You need to give me fifty thousand to pay off my bookie. If you don't, he will kill me and maybe you and your kids, too." You give him the money and next week he says "look how much I made at the track! Isn't it great?" You don't want to kill him because he made money, but because he did it by putting you and your family at risk for the loss.
