One would think the White House has been getting this message for quite some time (at least the past few weeks or so).

At this point, if Obama came out and said, "I agree, let's back off a bit", he would regain some lost momentum. And, with time, could possibly manufacture a more popular agreement. That would be true leadership.

But, my guess is that he probably won't, and we will see a reenactment of the Titanic story.
