When you/I read the sort of things like Lott's comments and see them annotated by that note, I'm struck again by how willing certain commentators, right now those on the right, are simply willing to throw factoids (that old Norman Mailer term) at an argument with no concern for the truth of the claim. It's not a debate about the comparative characteristics of health care systems, national cultures around health care, how to reduce costs, none of it. It's simply about finding some factoid to throw at viewers/readers/listeners that they will believe. One would think their credibility would be shot by now. Of course, Lott has his own problems from his arguments about gun control and the methodological criticisms. But they never concerned him; just kept right on doing the same stuff.
