No paper work in Canada either unless you have additional coverage with private insurance companies for prescriptions, dental and hospital upgrades where they will cover you for 80% of your coverage or something like that after the deductibles..

But your routine visits to the doctors or tests or any referrals to specialists, hospital stay, surgery etc. you don't see anything.. Flash your health card and that is about it.. Keep in mind however the drugs are covered only if you are hospitalized.. Otherwise, you pay for your prescriptions.. And dental or eye tests are not covered..

Coverage vary from province to province..
