What the "advocates of government-run health care" never bring up is it that they want the hidden costs of private insurance premiums to end up in the coffers of government rather the bank accounts of Doctors and Hospitals.

As a collective, we all pay more for private insurance than we would if everyone paid for their own health care so providers can cover the cost of treating the uninsured. Single payer (govt) insurance isn't going to drastically bring down the cost of health care any more than it can be brought down privately. I doubt Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid etc. care whether Joe Blow gets quality health care. Implementing govt paid health care is just a means of shifting monetary resources from the private sector to public entities.

for uninsured patients the advocates of government-run medical care say that we all end up paying, one way or another, for the free medical care that hospitals are forced by law to provide in their emergency rooms.
