Called Office of Personnel Management today because they canceled my group life insurance. After getting a busy signal four times and waiting fifteen minutes after they answered, I found out they supposedly sent me a notice before I turned 65 that they would do so unless I responded. I have no recollection of any such notice, but they gave me a fax number and I faxed a message to the effect that I want it reinstated. Why is it that I ALWAYS have trouble when dealing with OPM and SSA, and almost NEVER have trouble when calling a private concern like Home Depot or an airline.
