Greg wants everybody to feel little guilty and small so he can be the top chimp. I would guess he is an only child or an orphan that married into a religious family and they bankrolled his little business so he feels some grudging loyalty like a beat dog but has an inner need to bare his teeth so he role plays as the pius christian here. Bad to abort a zygote but OK to turn young women into sex slaves and murder the older ones and stone old men collecting sticks on the sabbath if the top chimp figures God is whispering in his ear.
