Private insurance simply doesn't want competition. End of that story. Take a system that works. That has no big problems other than the sheer number of people it has to cover and improve on it. I don't think you will find anyone that is ready to throw out Medicare. It's the best we got. As Bernie Sanders states: a debate on Private Insurance vs Medicare based system it's obvious who will win that debate. Best.
