Oh BS, those eye surgeries in the US, if they ever happened, had nothing to do with any "wait for years to obtain" in the UK. There are private practice eye surgeons in London e.g. just as the ear specialist I used and paid for that would do the surgery without any wait if your "working class" cousins had the funds to pay.

Maybe your "working class cousins" are not "clever" (understandable if they are your blood relatives) and the OxBridge surgeons would not sully their private practice but it was certainly not an NHS issue.
