for those interested:

kohler 18res air cooled. runs off natural and propane gas. needs 2 psi/ 242k btu's... about half a pool heater's demand.

produces 75 amps at 60 hz...running at 3600 rpm's.

unit plus battery shipped etc..... 4100.00

could possibly be located a few hundred cheaper depending.

i'm using a manual transfer switch vs. automatic. and for some very good reasons.

excellent switch in aluminum housing...... 500.00

gas line.... including permit.... i did the work... around 300.00 normally 500 plus. i used gastite pipe with appropriate connecting risers on each end, galvanized above ground including valve at unit.

meter upgrade from 4 oz to 2 lbs 350.00

electrician including wire, some digging... 1000.00

whole project around 6300.00

variables are gas lines, electric lines/connections. each home is different.

my cost easily 4k below the best bid by the liars and cheaters selling the stuff.

ready for the next hurricane by monday.

75 amps is a whole lot of power plant for a home btw. for those who want to know, can work through your usage to determine sizing.

end of message.
