Lots of parents aren't "friended" by their kids and who does this hurt? The parents or the kids...? I see things on my kids pages I don't like - I see comments from friends of theirs I don't like. Do I go on the warpath and try to correct every infraction? What I do get is a level of transparency and trust that more strict parents don't get. There are many ways to skin a cat and to make assumptions about people because they are "liberal" or "conservative" is inane. It is all about issues and personal action. I'm what I like to call a gun-toting liberal - what does that make me? A person who can simultaneously understand the 2nd Amendment and its benefit when I'm camping with my telescope 100 miles from the nearest town, while simultaneously appreciating that increased urban gun ownership is probably not correlated to a better safer society. There will have to be negotiated interfaces on this issue. Do I want some drunken lout carrying a firearm at the theme park when I'm there with my kids? Probably not.
