If you read the report you will also see that the officer ended up INSIDE his house in the first place. Nowhere does it say that he was invited in. So I'd be freaking pissed too if all of a sudden a person (any person) ends up inside my house, uninvited, thinking that I'm a thief asking me for ID. I would have told him to go F* himself, get out of my house and I'll get you an ID while you stand outside the door.

He could see the person through the glass window. The person was not acting like a thief and looked nothing like a thief. So he had NO probable cause. He never should have entered uninvited. Since he could see the person through the window, he could have knocked and he could have seen if the person run like a thief or instead approach him towards the door. He was only there because of some moron lady's phone call. So given his experience he should have thought through it himself rather than make an automatic assumption, white neighborhood in well to do educated place, black man must be a thief.

The police officer kept calling him to come outside. It's right there in the report. In hindsight Gates never should have stepped a foot out of his house. But most likely he thought the porch was also part of his house. In my opinion the officer knew what he wanted to do to teach this black man a lesson and so he kept calling him to come out of his house. And as the picture shows he was arrested on HIS porch.
