The citizens of Japan and Germany have high standards of excellence in everything they do. Especially in Japan, even street sweepers try harder. It's part of their tradition.

That's why Toyota and Volkswagen, for instance, do not need bailouts but GM and Chrysler do.


And that's exactly the argument used in defense of MN and taxes back in the 1980s. MN offers a quality of life that is superior to most states......and people who appreciate that quality choose to live there and locate industry there inspite of its bad weather. It was the alternative approach CA could have used in lieu of Prop 13 but did not.

And its the approach Japan and Germany have followed.......if you build it, they will come. Its seems most Americans are little too facile for that approach. AMIRITE?
