7/24/09 update
Despite some mild slaps by the Bears now and then, the Bulls controlled the court this week and at Friday's close the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 25.09% CYTD, or Contest Year To Date, (vs. up 20.04% CYTD a week ago). The biotech party was even more glorious, with an impressive display of fireworks! The Nasdaq Biotech Index closed up 12.30% CYTD (vs. up 3.72% CYTD a week ago), while the rip-roaring Contest median closed up an amazing 29.86% CYTD (vs. up 13.08% CYTD a week ago).
RKRW's portfolio had a stupendous week but nonetheless gained just a smidgen over GENE's ACAD-juiced portfolio. MIKE's portfolio held on to third place although NIGEL's portfolio, mightily boosted by MEDX, is close behind in the No. 4 slot.
The week's closing CYTD percentages are: RKRW up 101.75%, GENE up 96.15%, MIKE up 76.59%.
At Friday's close, a whopping 27 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black and 21 of the 32 were beating the NBI.
Enjoy the weekend biotechies!
