Regarding a bank holiday, it may have become more likely.

In recent days news of the FASB requiring fair value accounting would mean most if not all the big Wall Street banks are insolvent right now even after the rescue by taxpayers. A preliminary decision was made by FASB on July 15th. A formal proposal could happen as soon as August.
