Nice post. (I think you have a typo in the 4th paragraph; i.e., double negatives.)

I think your points show that Bob recognizes that his old timing model needs updating/adjustment. What worked in December 1999 didn't work in September 2008. My guess is that he is experimenting with new parameters or weightings to include in his model. Or perhaps he is seeing that the old parameters are starting to work again, given his increased discussion of the market direction.
