I think both parties share plenty of blame. You cannot ignore W's "ownership society," he was part and parcel of the home ownership movement.

Basically, Clinton started the snowball rolling, and W made the hill steeper so it picked up incredible size and speed.

Congress, of course, both Republican and Democrat during these administrations, had a lot to do with it as well. I agree with you that Dodd and Frank ought to face charges.

We beat this to death (and then some) on the Residential Real Estate Crash thread, and the liberals and conservatives (almost) agree that it was a joint effort.
