You have my sympathy. Chicago is on track for its coolest summer is 66 years, which is fine with me. We had a horrible heat wave in 1995 - including one day when the temperature hit 106 - that may have killed as many as 600 people. To make matters worse, we had high humidity.

I took a company public in August of that year and had to do a number of all-nighters alone in the office. The air conditioning in the building went off from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. each night and I was dripping sweat by 1:00 a.m. Toss in the fatigue and the knowledge that the company would not survive if we didn't complete the IPO, and I was generally ready to scream by the time the air conditioning came back on in the morning.
