You trust those legislators who laugh at the idea of reading bills before they vote on them? The way legislation comes together these days is for hundreds of pages of surprises to be inserted a few hours before the final vote. Its not just extremist advisors either. Obama has been making references to people being better off to just "take the pain pill" instead of having these expensive operations. I think organizations follow the leader - when they see what the top guys say, they get a message as to how to behave.
