Crowley isn't going alone. He's taking his union rep and lawyer with him. Wise man.

A union official and attorney will accompany Cambridge police Sgt. James Crowley to tomorrow’s “beer summit” with President Obama and Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr.

Crowley will be joined at the White House by Dennis O’Connor, president of the Cambridge Police Superior Officers Association, and Alan McDonald, the attorney for the Cambridge Police Superior Officers Association, the Cambridge Police Patrol Officers Association and the Massachusetts Municipal Police Coalition.

“We are hopeful that this will be a constructive discussion and a positive step for law enforcement officers across the country,” said Melissa Hurley, a spokeswoman for all three organizations. “Jim (Crowley) would like to thank the men and women of the Cambridge and Natick police unions, and police officers from the Massachusetts Municipal Police Coalition and across the state and country for their overwhelming support during this difficult time for him and his family.”
