Gottfried, do you know if govt. hearings re. on-line trading have been done recently (add "regular" trading that results in market orders disapearing into a black hole for a few hours, then popping out looking really ugly).

Seems like a brokerage/trading system must be built on the same concept as an army...ready to handle a worst-case scenario. I see too much evidence of the old fitness club model...sell as many memberships as possible, regardless of number of treadmills/towels.

I was on the sidelines Monday but had horrifying experiences trying to get back in early yesterday..."cost" me many $K. Some traders trying to exit Monday, must have felt real pain. No doubt if it had been water rather than "blood" in the streets, Al Gore (or pick your own favorite vote-seeker) would have choppered in to "share" that pain, give you a low cost loan and swear, at least, to form a blue ribbon task force to come up with a fix.

Do you think it would be worthwhile to see the E-Trade Boss (and many others) answering questions under the bright lights? Your "profile" leads me to believe you're unlikely to caught in a trading frenzy but my Sweetie said, "I'd ask the guy with the Black Dog." FWIW, we almost bought a house last Spring because there was a friendly Black Dog in the yard. Danke, Michael
