I have to think doctors are generally more up on the latest developments and findings in their field than someone who works for a government office would be.

Maybe yes, maybe no. Someone in a government office whose full time job it was to keep up would keep up better than a busy doctor with lots of irons in the fire.

John Edwards got filthy rich convincing juries that things within standard protocols wasn't good enough.

Did I not say that tort reform should be in there? I did.

But even if it's not, changing the protocols would be of some help to those who don't want to waste time and money on defensive medicine.
