I really don't know what happens in the verification process. But since the dealer isn't doing the crushing, I assume the car needs to be driveable to get on a truck to get to the processor.

But then, I'm sure you will argue that the dealers will pay off the processors. Conspiracies everywhere I tell you :)

Seriously, when the dealer is going out on a limb by giving you the credit before he gets it, I would assume he's not going to open himself to that kind of liability. At the dealer I went to, they're getting plenty of clunkers driven in so they have no need to take the shady deals.
