Well, I did read it again.
How big was China's and the Russian's navy at the time? Was China going to be subservient to Japan’s need for materiel? Would Japan view China as an equal? The US could have gone to a defensive position, and not try to evade Japanese-controlled islands, or much of Europe. The liberation of France would have provided a good platform to launch sporadic raids and allow for building a defensive posture for a prolonged battle.
If Russian had joined the Germans, would they have prevented German control of Eastern Europe, or would the Germans have handed over the control of the Baltic region, including Finland, or the Slavic counties to Russia?

Causes do have effects, and effects can cause reactions, which do have causes. This statement seems facile to me. I may have misinterpreted your intent.
get simpler still, do not stretch the truth as one would a french fry, to break it; news to all: the world won wwii, america helped, and all helped, even new zealand, each to ability, all at terrible cost, all can be tallied up. american cost was one of the least amongst the larger nations.
The Japanese looked down on the Chinese as an inferior race, starting early in the 20th century – some say due to their manufacturing successes and newfound wealth. I think that the Chinese joining the Japanese would have been too much of a capitulation given their long-term history. Was there ever a moment in history when the Chinese and Japanese fought together? Did the Chinese view the US as a longer-term threat? What is the motivation for the Chinese – avoiding the inevitable defeat at Japanese hands?
Now, the Germans looked down on everyone else (except possibly the Icelanders) as inferior races. Do the Russian become subservient to the Germans? Was Soviet Communism compatible with Nazi Germany on a philosophical or practical level?

I think the early question was not cost, but what was the American effect amongst the other nations?
