I don't think "anybody" wanted to be "handled" by the Russians back in the 1980's.

When they handled you, they didn't let you go. Also a BIG part of the Russian "quagmire" was us. We trained the Jihadists and supplied them with weapons and money. Those stingers and other weapons that were taking down their choppers came from us.

I KNOW Afghanistan doesn't want to be "ruled" by anyone else. I don't think we want to rule them. We just want to keep the Taliban from turning the country back into a training ground for Jihadists that want to kill us.

Are you saying we should just pull out of Afghanistan because it will be a quagmire and we can't win? That sounds like what you're saying.

If McCain had been elected he ALSO would be putting more troops into Afghanistan.
