Let's just drop the problem on the next generation.

You already are. The next generation requires strong economic growth. That growth is NOT going to be powered reliably by wind power in its current form (lacking power storage). All it does is place an additional burden upon them as these wind mills meet the end of their 10 year (maybe 20) service life and require replacement.

In the meantime, for any economic growth to occur that relies upon wind and solar power, redundant baseload power has to be provided to meet demand during the null generation periods of those alternatives.

If you want to do a favor for the next generation, you'd focus upon building out extensive baseload power for industry to rely upon. Build the power, price it right, and industry will locate there and provide jobs. Of course, we also need to create strong "centers of learning" to provide the necessary skills and education for the labor force.

Seriously... look at our history. Look at the development that occurred due to the system of dams and nuclear projects we directed in the past. Hoover dam.. TVA.. etc, and practically any nuclear power plant, have all provided the baseload power for economic expansion in their vicinity.

Nuclear power is probably the only rational baseload power alternative. But obviously safety issues need to be reconciled and we should R&D newer reactor designs, as well as fuel reprocessing.
