Yes, an interesting comparison----

Message 25830322

When I first saw the picture of President Bush helping senator Byrd some months ago, I felt so humbled.

Maybe 15 years ago at a medical building,I popped on an elevator to go to my doctors office----as I did there stood Senator Byrd with his full robust height and his wife.

They smiled and acknowledged my presence. I smiled and said Good Morning Senator.

When one lives in the D.C. Metro area one sees a lot of Congressman in various venues and are rarely impressed----however, I was impressed with being in Senator Byrd's presence----in the presence of the most knowledgeable expert on the Constitution and Parliamentary Procedure that we have had in the US Congress.

To see this once robust man in his final stages of life as shown in the picture brings sadness to my heart.

While at the same time it is affirming to see the compassion and good character that President George Bush evidenced not as President but as a human being in helping a fellow human being whose body is slowly giving up.
