You sound like you really believe that the US bought those contracts. I just have to think (gov.) people would be smarter -- if it became common knowledge that the federal government was really trying to forestall a drop artificially, this market would get priced rationally pretty quickly, IMO. On the other note: Our government meddles in the market all the time, especially technology -- I think what is lacking is some grand overall scheme. We don't have "free markets" but freer than a lot of countries I think. Do you think I am naive?
