| I don't see why they should get as much as they do out of a settlement. that aside, it is a low-end savings from what I know, but it is a savings. there is the dual aspect of giving that avenue to patients (us) to protect ourselves by having the means to sue, but on the other hand keeping things in a reasonable range that lets the person harmed live decently for life while not putting a biz out of bizness... if the doc really sucks, so be it, but we all pay. there is a balance there to be had in payments and to rein in truly bad docs... but as in all things, mistakes do happen... docs aren't perfect, we all could fall asleep at the wheel, etc. to realize that, could gain some savings, but that is overall a small amt. but it does matter. and no lawyer, imo, should get a percentage. straight hourly wage. that mean of me? |
