Letting people spend the money they earn is not "wealth redistribution."

Nobody is "free to spend what they earn". If you smoke cigarettes, your wealth is redistributed to non smokers. If you have a cell phone, your wealth is redistributed to those that don't. It you take a toll road.... if you don't have kids your wealth is redistributed to those that do.

And companies decide how to redistribute wealth. Should it go to the employees or the shareholders... or the customers in the form of lower prices? Should the wages go to the execs or the line workers

This stuff goes on a million times a day...

So the question isn't should we have wealth redistribution... we have it in spades. The question is how it should be done. Choosing winners and losers. And that's usually done based on the best interests of the society as a whole.
