Simonton Windows is recalling 402 workers in West Virginia and Illinois who have been laid off since late 2008.

The window and patio door manufacturer also is looking to hire an additional 55 employees.

President Mark Savan credits a federal tax credit incentive for boosting summer sales.

The Parkersburg-based company says it has offered 263 employees their jobs back in West Virginia. It also anticipates filling an additional 25 seasonal positions by the end of September.

Another 139 employees in Paris, Ill., have been invited back to work. The company wants to hire 30 more people there.

U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller said the move proves the tax credit is doing what it was designed to do: improving home efficiency and providing jobs.
