i'm talking about the fruit and veggies of today vs. previous years,

"Ahh, return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear, when carrots were carrots, and so were turnips!"

I suspect the veggies today have the same vitamin content as those of a hundred years ago. If anything, they are better. We do a finer job these days of harvesting and delivering them.

You want red, ripe juicy tomatoes, you get the the same way now you did then. Grow them yourself.
