if I was an insurance company, or doctor or hospital or pharmaceutical company, i wouldn't want to be absorbed by the government.

I agree with you, and I don't think most ~practicing~ physicians are in favor of more government involvement. IMO many primary care physicians will stop practicing, and move into other areas rather than to continue to see patients if the government takes over health care. I don't think physicians want a more complicated health care system, and I don't think our government (and our President) has any understanding of the medical care system.

Practicing physicians, especially primary care physicians are usually working extremely long hours. Unfortunately they're too busy just trying to "do the right thing" for their patients and survive, so becoming involved in the politics of medicine is simply something they can't fit into their already too busy days.

It is the patients who will suffer the most IMO, as they will receive a poorer quality of medical care, and will most likely have fewer choices in their health care.
