Awwhh, Thanks guys(you to Galirayo) . It has been one whale of an adventure so far. Had my staples pulled monday by a home visiting nurse, and then a physical therapist came to the house yesterday to start full core rehab, I have 8 in house sessions before my first post-op visit to the surgeon (did get transferred to a rehab facility for 7 days after leaving the surgery hospital-figured it would give me a good headstart on my comeback(lol)).
Due to my young (in arthritis years(g)) age, I decided to have the Bilateral (both) hip resurfacing procedure done as it's not quite as brutal as a total hip replacement(femor bone is not cut and bored out) and preserves more bone for my future anaticipated second go-a-round (return to the op room for replacements,15 or so years down the road when these wear out?)
But trust me, whoever decided to name this procedure "resurfacing"--sounds as simple as repainting your house! has never had it done!!(lol)--They actually grind the "ball" of the femor bone into a cyclinder shape then cement/glue (using antibiotic impregnated cement) a new ball right over it. On the cup side (acetabular) they ream it out a bit and drive a new cup in-kinda press fit- no glue...New ball joint is metal on metal---but with no grease fittings though!!! (my surgeon (dry Canadian) didn't get my farmboy humor when I questioned him about grease fittings--and engineers purposely designing with time engineered failure for job security) (G)) All and all, some slick high tech sh*t...Had it done at Dartmouth in NH...these ivy league fellas know there sh@T!
(g).

Hope all is well with everyone, 14 days post surgery and I've been walking around a mile--with crutches..expect to be digging in the mud and pounding nails by Oct!!
.....:^) we'll see,
'Ditch
of course now sporting a matching set of 7" scars...:*)
