Because the currently proposed health care reform is a precursor to single payer, which ultimately, is a precursor to a NHS-styled socialized medicine.

Right now, the goal of single government payer will satisfy the socialists. But it will be too expensive, and the the Left will then ascertain that it is necessary, in cutting costs, to put healthcare workers to work directly for the government. This may be 20-30 years down the road. And NHS may well have collapsed of its own weight by then. But you and I both know that's what you want.
