Big Pharma.... A major company like PFE is still in a long term bear market, ever since it topped in the spring of 1999 at 50, and bottoming - for now - recently, in the low teens. Doesn't exactly look like a corporation that owns the world.

John Le Carre wrote a novel in which he describes a drug company which gets involved in major conspiracies, murders, etc. It was a fun novel, but I didn't read it as a realistic story.

Big Pharma companies have an enormous store of expertize in basic sciences, and they employ great numbers of scientists. Stuff they do helps keep us alive and healthy. Before any drug can become generic and cheap, first someone must invent it.
