Thanks. Great story.

Last night I had a conversation with a friend who is practicing Internal Medicine in Florida. A few days ago he saw a man with fever and abdominal pain. When the patient did not respond to the initial treatment, he sent him to have a CT scan. But - it wasn't so simple to do. First, he had to call the HMO, fill out forms, etc. After all this, the initial answer was that the CT was approved. However, next morning he received a notification that upon review the CT was denied.

The story reminded me why I gave up my practice of 25 years some 3 years ago. Not only they didn't pay enough, but even if you were willing to work cheap, they still made it impossible.
