Capitalism is the accumulation of capital which is invested in things which return profits. That capital is privately owned.

A capitalist tends to have fewer workers than non-capitalists. Somebody might hire 100 people to work for them, but not be a capitalist. All they need is the workers to generate more revenue than they cost in pay and hey presto profits, but no capital invested.

On the other hand, I can buy a refinery, power station, runway, ship or something with just a few people to run it, or even none, and get a lot of money and profits. Those few people could be paid a LOT of money. That's capitalism.

Socialism is bludging off the work of others. Capitalism is use of capital to get more money [or capital]. Capitalism creates wealth, socialism destroys it.
