I don't know...I just smell a fresh oyster and the first thing I want to do is taste it. Don't get me wrong, I've eaten 3 dozen in a sitting many times. Still to look at them unknowing... maybe the first guy to eat one was blind but had a great sense of smell. PS the best I every had were Normandy oysters in France. Unbelievable.
