Dear Datek Online Customers,

It was a day like Monday, just over ten years ago, which spurred the idea for founding Datek Online. Black Monday was a day that caused a great deal of heartache for the small investor who was unable to reach their broker. Datek Online was founded on the idea of giving market access to the small investor so that they have the ability to interact with the market. These past two days have proven that Datek is one of the best equipped and supported systems for online trading. We reached record volumes of trades, over 15,000 on Monday and 20,000 on Tuesday. Each of these trades gave a small investor, such as yourself, access to a very overburdened market.

As noted on this thread and many others, there were various obstacles within the online market. The sheer volume on the internet caused a number of delays in accessing sites, sending requests and receiving information. This increased internet usage is great sign of the future of e-commerce. More and more people are utilizing this efficient and economic means of commerce.

Each market also experienced record setting days that will go down in history. With the additional market traffic each exchange experienced difficulty filling orders. There were delays throughout the market for all brokers, both on and off line. As each exchange dealt with the overwhelming traffic there were a number of affected services. The NASDAQ quote system was delayed by the fast moving market. Since Datek receives our quotes directly from the NASDAQ market, our quote system was unfortunately effected by this incorrect information.

Datek has remained committed to providing the most advanced technical solutions to our customers. Since we founded this company, Datek Online has been on the cutting edge of producing the most superior software and equipment. To continue this dedication we have been planning to double the capacity of web servers. This expansion will be in place by next week. We value you, as our customers, a great deal and are striving to improve our systems to accommodate days with volumes equal to and exceeding these past two. This expansion will increase the access and provide our customers with the best possible online trading system available.
