PS - note I made no mention of sports and venue tickets

Seen that, but not recently, not in many years. THe concern - imo - tends to be overrated. I think they passed all sorts of laws about it some years back. Docs - typically - value their integrity and their duty towards patients. Few - if any - would budge for a lunch or a trinket, imho.

As far as "pill man".... As you can see from my remark (to which you replied), I admire modern pharmaceuticals. People manipulating molecules to create other molecules which have precise and clean bioactivity.... I think this is nothing short of amazing. We could do OK for a while with the statins or blood pressure meds we have today.... but if the flow of new antibiotics stalls, we may all get into major trouble.

I don't like some of their marketing, that's true. WRT their political influence - the *only* cure and prevention of the corporatist malaise is limited government. If politicians wouldn't have all this power to "deliver the goods", business people wouldn't have much interest in "buying" them.
