Break even, you say? Rats, I was hoping for a few
cents just to show that the market was beginning to
take shape. I didn't really expect things to hit
the bottom line until 4th quarter, but wanted a bone
to knaw on in the meantime.

The Zork Grand Inquisitor placement is great. I hope
they got a logo placement on the box to help start the
brand identity. I'll look for it in the stores. I also
should look at the Activision web site to see what play
it gets there. Let you know what I find.

By the way, I'm not a game programmer. My programming
is for scientific simulations, mostly Fortran stuff.
The point being that I get to play on the world's fastest
supercomputers at times and you don't want to waste any
CPU time when you get only a limited amount. Hence, I have
a strong eye toward optimization (also a major reason we
use Fortran instead of C, but that's a huge argument that
one can never settle). In reading about game programmers,
I believe they have many of the same optimization
oriented ideas. John Carmack (guru of Doom, Quake, etc)
rewrites his graphics engine about 10 times during game
development to tweak as much out of it as he can. The
article in Wired made it sound like each rewrite was a
major overhaul. That kind of effort will require as
fast an audio system as possible to complement it.
