8/7/09 update
The week saw a bit more air blown into the broader market's bubble and at Friday's close the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 27.28% CYTD, or Contest Year To Date, (vs. up 25.89% CYTD a week ago). However, the biotech bubble was somewhat deflated, with the Nasdaq Biotech Index closing up 10.99% CYTD (vs. up 13.60% CYTD a week ago), while the Contest median closed up 25.22% CYTD (vs. up 30.06% CYTD a week ago).
GENE's portfolio brushed off the biotech bears, managing another big weekly gain and widening its lead. MIKE's portfolio slipped by RKRW's portfolio by a hair to take the No. 2 spot.
The week's closing CYTD percentages are: GENE up an incredible 126.29%, MIKE up 100.77%, RKRW up 100.71%.
At Friday's close, 26 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black and 22 of the 32 were beating the NBI.
Have a terrific weekend biotechies!
