<<If you're going to buy anything, I'd buy Calcomp. Crystaljet is the future in printing>>
Where is CrystalJet? It was supposed to be out in Q3 but according to my sources, they are having trouble in the R&D area. As for CJ being the future in printing, it may very well be the case for small format but in large format, speed and cost prevail. How many times have you examined the print quality on a billboard or even a mall display. Try it, you'll be very suprised at how good the crummy quality looks from 5 feet. CJ will be expensive and slow and will not be appealing to most of the LFDP arenas. It will be nice for proofing.
<<RGFX has old piezo technology with inherent technical problems>>
Yes, 360 sq ft per hour 6 color printing is a very technical problem (faster coming soon). If you know of any other problems with their Piezo tech, let me know. The only problems RGFX has is bad marketing and a low selection of consumables. All these could be solved if EnCad picked them up. Encad has great marketing and a wonderful selection of consumables. They do not have software, or high speed, or piezo - all of which can be aquired in the RGFX purchase. I believe that with Encads marketing and distribution, they could move enough P5000s to significanlty lower the price. RGFX is on track to sell about 400 / year at $50,000 but I believe Encad could sell 2000 at about $35,000. Do the math.
