Can the S&P 500 Handle 1200?

This is a logical place for the market to retreat. But will it?

Ned Davis Research -- whose determination that what it calls the "monster rally" would continue was cited here three months ago, when the indexes were 10% lower -- figures the brighter investor mood isn't yet enough to puncture the overall positive trend. NDR has even floated the idea that the S&P, now at 1010, could approach an overvalued level near 1200.

Tough as it may be to place much faith in such a target, the 1200 level is of particular interest and importance. That's about where the market was when Lehman Brothers failed.
