That's the justification for the supposed "Obama death panels" as a serious argument, when no such thing could EVER happen in this country.

I said "as a thought experiment." Quality minds can tell the difference between a thought experiment and hyperbole/hysteria.

I realize that there are a lot of non-quality minds about and that there is risk in ignoring that fact, but refusing to analyze the question thoroughly because someone somewhere might make ill use of the results has no less risk. The risk is the failure to recognize the danger in taking a tragic path. For every mind capable of only hysteria there is a mind capable of only magical thinking. Neither is either constructive nor apt.

This could lead to some very bad things, tragic even, down the road. There is considerable likelihood of that. I agree that death squads are not among them--the notion is risible--but that doesn't diminish the other potential tragedies.
