This huge rally doesn't make much sense (and I've have puts melt away, so I know how you feel).

The market is now so 4th derivative that's it's become random - "Since everyone knew the news would be bad they must have sold off already, but everyone bought in anticipation of that so it's a good time to sell, but since that's what they're all doing I'll buy" seems to be the logic of bonus seeking hedge fund managers risking other people's money.

A trillion dollars in TARP money went to the banks and it does look like a chunk of that is being used to speculate in the market (we know that almost none of it went to its intended purpose).

I don't know what else is going on. The Bush years destroyed almost all value seeking behavior in the markets and since Obama it's gotten even worse (if that's possible).

When interest rates are negative markets do strange things...
