But seriously, folks: Obama death panels?

While Palin's claim may be over the top, it is a fact that some of these bills call for establishment of government committees to determine the cost-effectiveness of treating people whose quality of life, or longevity, may be in question.

The argument is made that since most Medicare dollars are spent in the last few months of life, that such treatments should not be undertaken. And so, this "committee" will make those decisions. It is a slippery slope.

It is interesting that these treatments occurring near the end of life is precisely what allows medicine to develop techniques that will extend life, while the Left tries to argue that the WHO study -- one that is based on life expectancy -- is a valid measure of the quality of health care.

It is just more evidence of a confused, convoluted, and morally corrupt approach to reform.
